Sawadee krub, #417 - https://gitlab.com/whitebox-aero/whitebox/-/issues/417 SRS server ready, streaming through it via RTMP works, and streaming that to the browser mostly works. Current observations: - With the streaming perpetually active, we need to "intervene" to also start recording. Second connection causes the first one to drop, so we might need a "centralized daemon" for per-Insta360-device handling. Leaving the investigation for a later iteration - Streaming to RTMP dies after some time, but restarting it causes browser playback to seamlessly continue - Browser playback over WebRTC is not exactly ideal. Playing non-3D equirectangular video with pure Video.js works great, but mixing it up with Pannellum seems to be flaky. I'm getting it working currently with a horribad `setTimeout(initialize, 2000)`, couldn't workaround it - On the other hand - from a few tests today, desynchronization is gone! :D Not only does the video play consistently and smoothly, HLS recording has pretty much zero delay from pressing `Start Flight` to when it actually starts recording. Also launched it on three devices and waved my hands around with "abrupt stops", all three screens were, to my eyes, in absolute perfect sync. Really love where this is going, but I've hit a small wall and will postpone the rest for a later iteration to not have spillovers. I'll put all this into appropriate tickets tomorrow

Didn’t get much time today, as I was getting my luggage and everything ready for my flight tomorrow. Incoming transmission through WebRTC: "Hello" :D #385 - https://gitlab.com/whitebox-aero/whitebox/-/issues/385 Reviewed #417 - https://gitlab.com/whitebox-aero/whitebox/-/issues/417 Okaaay, I tried to _only_ double check the WebRTC thing, but I realized there's this SRS[1] thingy that sounded better than nginx - and is pretty much becoming an industry standard, and it was sooo interesting - that I present you: le stream by WebRTC! :D [screenshot in the ticket] I didn't measure it, but the latency feels (to me) around ~200ms. It's very much not done, but I'd say I'm more than half-way through. I have tons of context in my head around this, feel it'd be a waste to leave it for after NYE, so I'll create a ticket in this sprint and prep something either actually mergeable along with POCs to be able to continue with, or at least a savepoint for later so that I don't need to do a full mental reboot on it [1] https://ossrs.io/lts/en-us/

The assumption discussed in the meeting turned out to be correct. I’ve extended the report to cover all related flows. Demo now properly plays the entire flight's recording. #402 - https://gitlab.com/whitebox-aero/whitebox/-/issues/402 #404 - https://gitlab.com/whitebox-aero/whitebox/-/issues/404 Insta360's stream seems to be missing some frames here and there, causing the desync. I've tried multiple angles to "fill them in", but I couldn't get an accurate output. Also, just doing something weird like `speed * missing_ratio` wouldn't make up for it, as the video would still be out of sync. I will be adding very verbose logging under #402 so we can get this moving to be able to close it, and leave #404 in blocked along with #382, to re-evaluate them once RTMP-based pipeline is implemented (as I'm hoping the issue will simply disappear) #417 - https://gitlab.com/whitebox-aero/whitebox/-/issues/417 Looked into WebRTC a bit more, seems like it won't be as resource intensive as I initially thought it'd be.
